What if, after all this moaning and "woe is me"-ing, the F1 season starts like usual, with Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, and McLaren near the top, and Caterham and Marussia at the bottom?

What if, after the debacle that was pre-season testing, there is no over heating, the cars sound fantastic, the electronics have no issues, and the cars are just as fast as years past?

What if, after glorious pictures of a pissed-off and uncomfortable-looking Sebastian Vettel, Seb wins in Melbourne, and the three subsequent races?

Kinja'd!!!

What if, after 4 seasons of Red Bull/Vettel dominance and borderline boring races, Bernie Ecclestone concocted this whole ruse of regulation changes, technical issues with said regulation changes, dong-shaped noses, conspiring with everyone from engine manufacturers, to Magnetti, to Pirelli, just to get people hyped for another season that will just turn out like the past four?

The "What if" to rule them all...

Then I'll eat my hat.

Even Christian Horner said that Red Bull weren't in a race-winning position for the first few races. Perhaps until the mid-point of the season.

That's a big admission from him.

Honestly, I can't wait for the season to start. Partially because of the carwreck theory, partially because I actually think the cars sounds GREAT and I'm excited that McLaren had good testing performance.

But why does it seem teams weren't as prepared for the rule changes as they maybe should've been, with most teams saying they will need a few races to be in real season form? Were the regs. not announced in a timely fashion? I am not super familiar with F1 yet, as I just started seriously following it last season.

What if Bernie craps gold bricks?

...Actually that would probably explain a lot.

I think it's because the teams aren't actually giants. They're pretty hard-pushed to keep up with the development for the season they're competing in, as well as developing next years car. That's without even having the massive regs changes that have come about this year.

The lack of ability to test the whole car also has something to do with it. They can test and test again on simulations, but the first time they actually set wheels in motion is at the first test day. Until then, they don't have a great idea of whether the whole thing will work or not :)

What if my uncle had tits? He'd be my aunt. This stands to be the most interesting F1 season, at least at the start, of any in the last few years. However, it's set to be interesting for all the wrong reasons.

I predict Hamilton/Mercedes World Championship. Rossberg or Button challenging for runner up position. Alonso might be in the running for the title too. Never rule him out. I think Raikkonen will have problems, to the degree that I predict he'll repeat 2008, but leave F1 for good. Maybe before the season ends. I think Magnusson will impress, but Massa will end up rounding out the top 5, if not higher. I predict Kobayashi will have a hilarious season in the Caterham, which might field a halfway decent car this year. And I predict Red Bull will finally flounder, at least for the first half of the season. But once Renault works out the bugs and Newey takes his 20 lashes, they will bounce back in the second half with a fury.

The back half of the season will likely be amazing.

Oh, and Pee Wee's bike is at the Alamo. In... the basement.

Yes it seems they will not be on the podium if Renault can't sort it out. Williams could be back and make their life hard as well. Lotus seems to be the new Williams, I predict they will have issues and Maldonado won't help! Ferrari could be quite strong, they might have more going on than they showed and maybe they use the data well. I do see Merc being out front for now, hard to tell of McL will be strong and build or not.

These systems are far more complex than ever and they get less time that we ever got in the past to test it. When I was working we tested all the time, Ferrari had cars out on their own track constantly.

I can definitely see Lotus struggling. A lot of their big players have left, although I'll continue to defend Grosjean's speed. The man's quick.

The Renault engine is going to be a big thorn in the side of Red Bull, and Lotus as well. It's something that they might be able to limit the affects of the overheating, but I doubt they'll be fast enough to chase for the championship. At least until they re-open engine development. Fingers crossed Mercedes don't walk it instead :)

I'm happy to see Williams picking up speed again though. Everyone seems to like Williams. They just seem like a nice team :)

Ha ha ha. Lewis. You crack me up. Nico. Lewis has a lead foot and is famed for throwing it away. he just about won the championship on the last race with 17 points to spare before the race. he won by one point was it. year before he had a similar lead. lewis is a screw up. nico wants it more. he went toe to toe with schumacher. he was better than lewis in 13.

Heres how it will prob pan out. Merc,Mclaren and ferrari. Inner politics will screw up Ferrari. Lewis could win but has a lead foot. Mclarens new guy is a rookie and still wet behind the ears. So its down to Nico and Jenson. Nico wants it. Hes racing with his dads number and has a point to prove. Jenson lost his father and is fighting for pride. My money is on Nico. By the end of the year merc will be giving mclaren engines made of chocolate. What Id actually like to happen is Massa at to win. He always deserved to win. A new team right engine. Maybe. He also has the fact his hero is in hospital. If your hero being down cant inspire you to win for him i dont know what will.
